NDN: Naples Senior Center helps its vulnerable members get COVID-19 vaccine

When the vaccine against COVID-19 became available last month, 86-year-old Ginny LaPlaine knew she would not get an appointment

“I don’t use a computer,” the Naples resident said. “It was all so foreign to me.”

Vaccine appointments for people 65 and over in Collier County must be made online, whether through the state Department of Health, Publix, or the NCH Healthcare System.

The Naples Senior Center, a private organization that provides an array of program services to 1,400 members, knew it had to do something to help its most vulnerable members who don’t use the internet and may not drive.
