While the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season has so far gotten off to a slow start, this is no time to let your guard down and local residents should continue with their storm preparations. That was the message conveyed recently by WINK Weekday Morning Meteorologist Nash Rhodes to a group of veterans at Naples Senior Center.
The hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30. Rhodes noted that as of mid-August there have been just three named storms thanks in large part to the presence of Saharan dust, which quells storm development. Nevertheless, forecasters still predict an above-normal season with 14 to 20 named storms, including six to 10 hurricanes.
