Naples Senior Center, a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive programs and social services for local seniors, recently helped organize a small pop-up lawn concert to honor member Betty Ryan who marked her 103rd birthday.
Born on June 15, 1918, Ryan has lived through two World Wars and two global health pandemics (the Spanish flu and COVID-19). For her special day, friends and family members planned an outdoor celebration that included an ensemble of short songs by local violinist Sarah Dorna, including “Young at Heart” and “Happy Birthday To You.”
“It’s been a very difficult year for all of us, but particularly for seniors who have had to isolate, stay home and not participate in the activities that really help keep them vibrant,” said Dr. Jaclynn Faffer, President/CEO of Naples Senior Center. “We are delighted to celebrate Betty’s birthday and look forward to welcoming her back when we reopen.”
